In many cases, dry eye symptoms can be managed at home with the use of eye drops, supplements, or warm compresses. However chronic and severe dry eyes can be debilitating. When dry eye symptoms persist or worsen, it’s recommended to visit your local eye doctor to receive in-office treatment.
In-Office Treatments:
At Seeta Eye, we offer a variety of in-office dry eye treatments. After a comprehensive eye exam, you may be a suitable candidate for one of these cutting-edge treatments.
Punctal plugs- These tiny silicone or collagen plugs are inserted into the small opening on the lower lid where tears drain out of the eye. This helps keep the eye’s surface moist and comfortable, relieving itchy, burning, and red eyes.
Plugs may be dissolvable or they may be removed periodically and reinserted when needed.
Intense pulsed light therapy (IPL): IPL is used to treat meibomian gland blockages as well as to reduce ocular inflammation by applying infrared light directly to the eyelids with a handheld device. This light wavelength can reduce inflammation and loosen meibomian gland blockages.
Lipiflow- Lipiflow treatment uses gentle thermal pulses to unblock the eyelid oil glands. After a session of LipiFLow treatment, the glands should resume their natural production of oil for the tear film.
