Poughkeepsie | What is LASIK Eye SurgeryLASIK eye surgery corrects refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. During LASIK, a small flap is created in the outer layer of the cornea, allowing your LASIK surgeon to gently reshape underlying corneal tissue. Once reshaped, the cornea will refract light more accurately onto the retina, allowing for clear sight at a range of distances.

LASIK is used to permanently correct vision disorders, enabling the patient to experience a life free from the burdens and annoyances of prescription eyewear. If this is something you have dreamed of, call Seeta Eye Centers at 845-454-1025 to schedule a consultation at our Yorktown or Poughkeepsie office right away. We offer a range of laser vision correction services, including LASIK and PRK, to help men and women living throughout the Hudson Valley area achieve optimal vision.

Types of LASIK

We offer only bladeless LASIK at our offices. This enables us to reduce flap complications and allows us to offer LASIK to people who may have been told in the past they are not good candidates.

Our blade-free LASIK eye surgery options include:

We perform all LASIK eye surgeries in-office, on equipment that is maintained to our exacting standards. In this way, we can further protect the comfort and safety of our patients, both of which are top priorities for our board-certified ophthalmologists. During your initial consultation, we can help guide you towards the bladeless LASIK option that will work best for your needs.

You may be a good candidate for bladeless LASIK if you are in generally good health and have had stable vision for at least 12 months. Recent prescription changes or the development of an eye disease or disorder will make you ineligible for LASIK eye surgery.

Additional factors that can impact candidacy include:

  • Corneal scars
  • Thinner-than-average corneal tissue
  • Dry eye syndrome

With bladeless offerings like IntraLase, thinner corneal tissue is less of an issue. However, people without sufficient corneal tissue to support a flap will still not be good candidates. In these cases, we may recommend a LASIK alternative such as PRK. The best way to learn which type of vision correction is right for you is through a one-on-one consultation at Seeta Eye Centers.
