Seeta Eye Centers is proud to announce that Dr. Satish Modi, one of our top ophthalmologists, recently gave a talk on laser cataract surgery at the meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in Las Vegas. The Academy meets every year to discuss advances in the field of ophthalmology and share their work with colleagues.
Dr. Modi's talk was centered on new tools developed to help with femtosecond laser cataract surgery, a procedure that uses a laser for several steps in cataract surgery. Lasers have several advantages over more traditional tools used for eye surgery:
- They tend to be more precise
- Ophthalmologists can complete the procedure faster
- Results are more uniform and easier to predict
- The incision will self-seal, requiring no stitches
But the laser is not the only tool used during cataract surgery. Dr. Modi's talk gives some helpful advice on how to use a femtosecond laser in surgery, but it also covers other tools, like a silicone speculum to keep the eyes open during the procedure.
Ophthalmological experts from the AAO value Dr. Modi's knowledge of eye surgery, and if you have eye problems, you can avail yourself of his knowledge by scheduling an appointment with Seeta Eye Care Centers!
